What makes working with Wendell Falls special?
As a lifelong resident of the area, I was born and raised just a few miles from where Wendell Falls is now, which has given me a deeply rooted connection to this community. Growing up, I frequently passed this land on my way to high school. At that time, it was nothing more than open fields and forest. Watching Wendell Falls become the vibrant community it is today has been incredibly meaningful.
Tell us about your favorite part of the job.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role has been hearing, both directly and indirectly, how much people appreciate and enjoy the community—particularly the beauty of the parkway, green spaces and thoughtfully designed amenities. Knowing that our work has a tangible impact on people’s daily lives is so very fulfilling.
Give us the details about the work Myatt Landscaping does for Wendell Falls.
Myatt plays a critical role in maintaining the community’s high standards through comprehensive landscape and grounds management. In addition to floral installations, we are responsible for maintaining all turf and planting beds within parkways, parks and common areas.
We cover everything from routine tasks, such as trash and debris removal, to more specialized efforts like monitoring plant health, including disease and pest control for trees and landscaping. We also take a proactive approach to fertilization and weed prevention throughout the growing season to promote healthy and sustainable growth.
During the winter months, our team focuses on leaf and debris cleanup while preparing the landscape for seasonal enhancements such as pine straw and mulch installation. This year-round attention to detail helps ensure the community consistently reflects a high level of care and quality.
Any landscaping tips for homeowners seeking to care for their yards this spring?
A key turf management tip for this time of year is to ensure a pre-emergent herbicide application is in place to prevent weed germination before it begins. Early intervention is critical for maintaining a clean and healthy lawn.
As plants begin to emerge from dormancy, it’s also important to closely monitor their condition so any potential issues—such as disease or pest activity—can be identified and addressed promptly.
As temperatures continue to rise, applying a balanced fertilizer can help stimulate healthy growth in both turf and landscape plants, setting the foundation for a strong and vibrant growing season.
