It is time to meet your favorite sandwich sensation. One of the newest businesses in historic downtown Wendell is Bellow Butcher. Started by husband-and-wife team, Chris and Laura, Bellow Butcher opened its doors in historic downtown Wendell this past October. Since then, it has received rave reviews and become an immediate staple among locals.
Chris and Laura describe the dream behind Bellow as “a warm, welcoming space where everyone feels like family…” and the moment you step into their shop you understand just how successful they were in bringing this dream to fruition. When we went for the first time, we were greeted with captivating smells and warm smiles. The open concept kitchen makes you feel like you’re walking into the familiar kitchen of your childhood home with good memories in tow.
Bellow prides itself on being a butcher shop with high quality meat from sustainably raised animals. The cattle are locally raised and grass-fed. A blog on their website emphasizes that the cattle are given space and time on a small scale farm. They are raised with intention and care. Chris and Laura go on record saying, “...we’re lucky to be surrounded by farmers who put their heart into what they do. Choosing to work with a small operation like Mim’s Farm isn’t just a business decision; it’s a reflection of our values.” The values they are speaking about are honest farming practices rooted in both respect for both the animal and the land.
Bellow Butcher is unique in the fact that it is not only a butcher shop serving up incredibly high-quality meat for every occasion, but it also serves as your new favorite sandwich shop. Bellow features some of their prime treated meats in an array of original sandwiches that go beyond your typical meat and cheese. These sandwiches are elevated with incredible vinaigrettes, aiolis, and other surprising and delicious ingredients. We tried the Y'all Capone sandwich on our first visit and can confirm it was delicious!
All in all, Bellow Butcher has everything. A fantastic environment, delicious sandwiches, and high quality cuts of meat. And you can feel good knowing that you’re supporting local businessowners.
