Labor Day, The Wendell Falls Way
Labor Day weekend is almost here, and if you’re planning to stay local, there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of it. Whether you’re keeping things lowkey at home or heading out for a nearby adventure, we have a few ideas. The best part? No suitcase is required!
Enjoy a Wendell Falls Staycation
Sometimes, the best getaway is the one right outside your front door. A long weekend is the perfect excuse to slow down and take advantage of everything our community offers. Spend your morning with a coffee from Sonder or the Farmhouse Cafe, relax by one of our pools, or host a casual cookout with friends and neighbors. A quiet afternoon on the porch with a good book or an evening movie night at home can be just as refreshing as a trip out of town.
Make Your Way to Downtown Wendell
Just a few minutes down the road, downtown Wendell is full of charm and things to do. Grab a downtown lunch at Ash & Dill Gastropub, browse local finds at the Wendell General Store, or catch live music and craft beer at Bearded Bee Brewing Company. If you’re out and about on Saturday morning, stop by the Wendell Farmers’ Market for fresh produce, baked goods and handmade gifts.
Day Trip to Raleigh
Just 15 miles from home, Raleigh has plenty going on this Labor Day weekend. On August 30 and 31, the African American Cultural Festival of Raleigh and Wake County brings Fayetteville Street to life with music, art, food and family-friendly activities.
If you’re ready to jam, Caamp will be in town and performing at Red Hat Amphitheater August 30 or scroll this list of fun and free things to do around the City of Oaks.
Prefer something a little more relaxed? Take a walk on your own time through Dix Park or spend an afternoon at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, where exhibits are free and fun for all ages.
Day Trip to Cary
In less than 30 minutes, you can be exploring downtown Cary’s parks, shops and arts scene. Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve offers shaded trails and quiet views, while uberpopular and urban Downtown Cary Park showcases table tennis, a putting green, a volleyball court, a children’s play area, a dog park and more. Check out the community event calendar to see what’s on the schedule this Labor Day Week.
