Back to school season is officially underway! One of the biggest perks of living at Wendell Falls is how close so many great schools are—with two located right in the neighborhood!
From creative magnet programs to strong public, charter and private education options, families here have plenty of strong choices, all the way from elementary to high school. Let’s start the school year off with an A+!
Lake Myra Elementary (Pre-K–5)
Location: On-site at Wendell Falls
Lake Myra runs on a year-round calendar, putting a big emphasis on leadership, connections and growing good habits right from the start. This year, they’re offering even more enrichment-focused after-school activities like an acting club and drone-based STEM programming. It’s just one more reason families love living so close!
Cardinal Charter Academy at Wendell Falls (K–8)
Location: On-site at Wendell Falls
Located just outside the main entrance of the neighborhood, Cardinal Charter offers Cambridge International curriculum and hands-on learning opportunities. It all comes together to bring a smaller school feel with a large amount of school pride. This year’s calendar includes new planning days and dedicated time for testing prep, with families loving the school’s personal approach and community-centered events.
Carver Elementary School (K–5)
Location: 291 Liles Dean Road
Carver Elementary is known for its warm community and student-focused culture. Teachers and staff work closely with families to support both academic and social growth. This year the school is continuing its push toward integrated technology in the classroom.
East Wake School of Arts and Education (9–12)
Location: 5101 Rolesville Road, Wendell NC
This K-12 charter school offers a strong academic foundation with a creative twist. With a focus on visual and performing arts, students can explore everything from painting to theater while building essential life skills. The school’s small size and supportive environment give kids room to grow both personally and artistically.
Wendell Creative Arts & Sciences Magnet Elementary (K–5)
Location: 3355 Wendell Blvd.
As a Magnet School of Distinction, Wendell Elementary brings science and art together in a way that makes learning exciting, since students here get exposed to both STEM and creative expression. New this summer, the school introduced a virtual “Heroes Read” program to keep the momentum going even when school is out.
Wendell Magnet Middle School (6–8)

Wendell Magnet Middle School is becoming an arts and design magnet, and the energy on campus reflects that updated dedication to creativity. Teachers are focused on collaboration and connection, while students say it’s a place they feel encouraged to be themselves and try something new.
East Wake Magnet High School (9–12)
Location: 5101 Rolesville Road
East Wake is now an iTech and Design Magnet School, which means students are presented with the early advantage of hands-on engineering courses, career prep and dual-enrollment programs that count toward college. Whether your teen is focused on academics, athletics or the arts, East Wake gives them a place to thrive and plenty of ways to get involved.
