You just can’t beat spring and summer in North Carolina. The trees are beginning to bloom again, front porches are filled with friends and sweet tea, and parks are full with the laughter of children, bursting with energy after being cooped up all winter.
This is the perfect time to spruce up your outdoor space! From lighting to furniture, just a few changes can make a big difference. Here are our top three favorite trends for outdoor living this year:
1. Chillin’ & Grillin’
Nothing says warm weather like a good hamburger on the grill! Outdoor cooking once meant a basic grill and a bag of charcoal, but we like the idea of taking it a step further. BBQ’s and grills are more versatile than ever, so you can whip up pizzas, whole turkeys, and sides to make your guests lining up for seconds. Outdoor kitchens have become increasingly popular in recent years, incorporating elaborate amenities like coolers, wood fired ovens, and yes—even the kitchen sink.
2. Heating Up
A great way to bring people together is by telling stories and roasting marshmallows around an open fire! Fire pits are a great addition to your outdoor living space, we like these selections from Home Depot.
3. Don’t forget the Lighting
Outdoor lighting is often overlooked, but a great way to extend your evening and show off your space even after the sun goes down. String lighting, posts, even solar lights are all available at your local hardware store and are a great way to jazz up your backyard.
