New restaurants, shops fill massive Wendell Falls project

As Wake County's smaller towns continue to draw more residents, a master-planned community is taking shape in Wendell.
Wendell Falls, a major mixed-use project in eastern Wake County, has a steady list of newly opened retail tenants with more coming soon. The project’s initial phase of retail space, dubbed Treelight Square, is nearing completion – with a second phase in the planning stages.
The Treelight Square phase is anchored by a Publix grocery store and features other national names like Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX) and McDonald’s (NYSE: MCD). Additional parcels are still available, with others already leased and in the planning stages of development, according to Tanya Matzen, vice president of operations for Brookfield Properties.
