Wendell Falls Launches Largest ecoSelect Program in North Carolina
Thursday, April 30, 2015
Wendell Falls, a new master-planned community in eastern Wake County, is partnering with Southern Energy Management to instate the largest ecoSelect building program in North Carolina. ecoSelect employs a custom-designed, third-party certification process to provide superior energy, water and indoor air quality that exceeds standard building codes.
“Newland maintains a commitment to sustainable development by providing housing standards that benefit both the environment and the resident,” said Shannon McSwiney, marketing director, Newland Communities. “Wendell Falls will carry on this legacy by pioneering the largest iteration of the ecoSelect program in the state, offering residents a superior quality of life.”
While individual builders have previously instituted ecoSelect, Wendell Falls will be the largest master-planned community in North Carolina to adopt the program. Chosen for its customizable options, ecoSelect will provide Wendell Falls with a baseline certification for energy efficient homes and above-code water and air quality. As the name suggests, residents may then select additional green attributes to incorporate into their homes. In addition, ecoSelect offers a simple pass/fail certification process based on RESNET’S HERS Index while ensuring superior standards.
“While most green building programs require intensive research and rigorous testing, ecoSelect removes the daunting confusion from the certification process,” said Bob Kingery, co-founder and president, Southern Energy Management. “We’re thrilled to partner with Wendell Falls to offer residents an effective yet accessible option to maintain an energy efficient lifestyle.”
In addition to ecoSelect, Wendell Falls is including a broad range of opportunities to enjoy a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, including approximately 273 acres of parks, open space, lakes, ponds and streams with future connection to the Mountains-to-Sea Trail.
Guests can experience the offerings at Wendell Falls at a grand opening celebration on May 16, 2015 with more details available at www.wendellfalls.com/barnraising.
